Considering how busy we’ve been lately doing SEO analysis for a number of clients – I’d say no, definitely not dead.

It has, however, changed.

Search engines have changed, what people look for has changed.

We are often asked how to get to the top of the search engines, and there really isn’t an easy answer. Aside from paid placements, the best approach is one with honesty. Don’t try to fake out the search engines. Sure you might be on the top for a day, but then you may get banned – and that’s never good.

If your SEO company is pushing the latest scam to get “to the top”, run away, run fast. SEO is about getting quality traffic for your business.

Provide good content, and understand that you’re laying groundwork. Your marketing approach needs to be inclusive. A web site is not just a billboard ad. It is part of your strategy.
