“Angela Render’s primary function for Sturbridge Yankee Workshop is in designing and coding electronic direct mailings, though she’s coded several seasonal splash-pages for your website. Since we took her on as a contractor in January of 2008, we’ve expanded our direct mailing templates from 6 to over 40. Some of these came from sketches we supplied to her and some came from a wish to adapt another email design to our unique needs.
Although I dictate the layout for most of the emails, there have been many occasions I found myself (and still do) with a “design block” where I would simply articulate what I’m looking for, and Angela will create many versions of an email until I have finalized my selection. She really is an incredible partner for me. She communicates with respect and patience, never making me feel inadequate. I continue to learn so much from her. In managing the web, I spend much of my time analyzing metrics on consumer traffic and impacting the ease in which my customer navigates the SYW website. I am responsible for capitalizing on all paid and organic traffic, ecommerce marketing efforts, social network compatibility, etc. In addition, I must select product, negotiate the terms of the product and maintain vendor relationships. With all that said, I am grateful to have such a strong partner in Angela, as I know I never have to worry about the coding and links of my campaigns being accurate.
Angela also handles deadlines seamlessly. She has demonstrated much flexibility in the time frames I have given her. In the time we have worked together, there have been many occasions when I have asked for last minute HTML coding. It didn’t matter if it was for an email deploy or a home page change, she met the challenge every time. Angela holds herself accountable as much as I hold myself accountable. She is professional and courteous with all my requests. Most of our communication is handled via email, however, if she needs clarity on a specific direction, she does not hesitate to call me.
Having a remote partner has its challenges, usually as it relates to conveying ideas and objectives. Our communication expectations were established early on in our relationship that meeting my deadlines was never a concern. Given the time frames, Angela has been more than accommodating. As someone who does not consider himself a technical person, I was very impressed by your ability to take my instructions and produce the desired result. When we originally commissioned another organization to design our Online Vendor Registration system, we were assured that it would flawlessly be updated from year to year.
